PCB Material Prices Expected to Rise from September 1, 2026

The PCB supply chain is entering a new period of cost pressure. Recent supplier notices and industry reports indicate that the prices of copper-clad laminates (CCL), prepregs and other key PCB materials may increase from September 1, 2026.

One major material supplier has announced an adjustment of approximately 20%–25% for CCL and prepreg products, based on the shipment date. This change may gradually affect PCB manufacturing costs and delivery schedules throughout the second half of 2026.

Why Are PCB Material Prices Increasing?

Several factors are contributing to the current price increases:

Tight Copper Foil Supply

Copper foil is one of the most important materials used in PCB production. Strong demand from AI servers, data centers, automotive electronics and high-performance computing applications has increased pressure on the supply of high-grade copper foil.

Shortage of Fiberglass Cloth

High-performance fiberglass cloth, including low-Dk and low-loss materials, is increasingly required for high-speed and high-frequency PCBs. However, limited production capacity has caused longer delivery times and higher procurement costs.

Rising CCL and Prepreg Costs

CCL and prepreg prices are affected by copper foil, fiberglass cloth, resin, energy and transportation costs. When these upstream materials increase in price, the cost of manufacturing double-sided and multilayer PCBs also rises.

Growing Demand from AI and Automotive Electronics

The continued expansion of AI servers, GPUs, ASICs, electric vehicles and industrial control equipment is driving demand for multilayer, high-frequency and high-reliability PCBs. This growing demand is tightening the supply of certain materials.

How Will This Affect PCB Buyers?

PCB buyers may experience several changes in the coming months:

• Higher prices for double-sided and multilayer PCBs
