PCB Material Price Update: FR-4 and Prepreg Costs Rise in August 2026

The PCB supply chain is facing renewed cost pressure following increases in the prices of key raw materials.

On August 28, 2026, Guangdong Kingboard Laminates Trading Co., Ltd. issued a price adjustment notice. According to the notice, the supply of important PCB laminate materials—including fiberglass cloth and copper foil—has become increasingly tight, while their market prices have risen significantly.

As a result, the supplier announced immediate price adjustments for FR-4 laminates and prepreg materials.

Details of the Price Adjustment

The announced increases cover materials of all thicknesses:

• FR-4 laminates: approximately 10% increase

• Prepreg using 7628 or heavier fiberglass cloth: approximately 10% increase

• Prepreg using fiberglass cloth lighter than 7628: approximately 20% increase

The higher increase for thinner fiberglass cloth may have a greater impact on multilayer PCBs and products requiring specialized stack-up structures.

How Will This Affect PCB Prices?

FR-4 laminate, prepreg and copper foil are essential materials used in PCB manufacturing. When their costs increase, the production cost of both double-sided and multilayer PCBs may also rise.
